Two faculty members from the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science have been named recipients of 2022 Google Research Scholar awards.
They are:
Kevin Ellis, assistant professor of computer science, for his project, “Programming Problem Generation for Human and Machine Learning” (category: Machine Learning and data mining). Ellis’s research leverages artificial intelligence and program synthesis with the goal of better combining reasoning and learning.
Adrian Sampson, assistant professor of computer science, for his project, “Debugging and Verifying DSL-to-Hardware Compilers” (Systems). Sampson specializes in programming languages and computer architecture, with a research focus on breaking down abstraction barriers and rethinking the hardware-software interface.
Jayadev Acharya, an assistant professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a field member in the department of computer science, was another Cornellian who received a Google Research Scholar Award. His project is called “Information-Constrained Statistics and Federated Analytics,” which was honored in the Machine Learning and data mining category.
Google’s Research Scholar Program provides unrestricted gifts to support research at institutions around the world, with a focus on assisting early-career professors.
